It would be very useful to have a dedicated Email Addresses view in the Stalwart WebAdmin interface that lists all email addresses configured on the server, including primary addresses and aliases.
Currently, the Directory → Accounts view is account-centric. An administrator can open an account and see the email addresses associated with it, but there does not appear to be an easy way to answer the opposite question:
“Which account owns this email address?”
This becomes increasingly important in multi-domain installations where a single account may have multiple email addresses or aliases, potentially across different domains.
Suggested UI
A new page such as:
Directory → Email Addresses
Useful functionality could include:
- Search by full or partial email address
- Filter by domain
- Filter by address type (Primary / Alias)
- Display the account associated with each address
- Sort by email address, domain, or account
- Click the account name to open/edit the corresponding account
- Optionally allow adding or removing aliases directly from this view
Use case
For example, on a Stalwart installation hosting several domains, an administrator may receive a request regarding [email protected].
From an administrative perspective, the first question is often not:
“What addresses belong to account X?”
but rather:
“Where is [email protected] configured, and which mailbox/account receives mail for it?”
With many domains, accounts and aliases, checking individual accounts becomes increasingly difficult.
A global address overview would also make it much easier to:
- audit configured addresses;
- identify unused or obsolete aliases;
- troubleshoot mail routing;
- verify domain migrations;
- manage multi-domain installations;
- quickly determine which mailbox receives mail for a particular address.
Why this could be useful generally
I believe this would be useful not only for large installations but also for small and medium-sized Stalwart deployments.
Email administration is naturally both account-centric and address-centric. The existing Accounts view handles the first case very well; an Email Addresses view would complement it by providing the reverse lookup from address to account.
